Jason Herbert

Outdoor writer, speaker and Bear Archery Prostaffer, Jason Herbert has enjoyed great success pursuing his passions in the outdoor industry.  Jason is a nationally published writer with works in Outdoor Life, North American Whitetail, Deer and Deer Hunting, Petersen's Bowhunting, and Bow and Arrow Hunting.  He has also worked with several small regional publications.  Working with Bear Archery keeps Jason busy and he's quickly become a regular speaker at shows and events through the Great Lakes region.  Making is living as a public school teacher, Jason has carved out his niche as a "regular guy" who lives and hunts in the real world.  His advice and tactics are practical and apply to almost everyone. 

Hunting on a Dime

Mike Schultz

Born and raised in Southeast Michigan, Mike has been involved in the outdoors his entire life.  During his teenage years he developed an interest in fly fishing.  The majority of his free time was consumed with fishing and tying.  After graduating from Eastern Michigan University he started guiding and working in the fly fishing industry full time.  His angling travels have taken him from Alaska to Patagonia and many places in between.  Logging 200+ days a year on the water annually, Mike has developed a vast knowledge of Midwestern waters and beyond.

Mike is the owner of Schultz Outfitters, a fly fishing guide service specializing in South Eastern Michigan warm-water angling, instruction and destination travel.

Bob Brunner

Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame and Legendary Guide

Bob will show you how to make Buck Tails from scratch and different ways to change body baits to make them help you take more fish.  He will relate some of his vast experiences over the last 78 years.  Bob has fished hundreds of lakes and rivers, as well as two oceans, plus he has guided on Lake St. Clair for over 40 years.  He caught his first Bass and Pike in 1929 and his first Muskie in 1931.  He will teach you how to rig for fish, so you have the best chance to get into one.  Bob will answer any question he can about fishing and if he doesn't know, he may know where you can get an answer.

Mark Romanack

Mark, "the outdoors guy," is a life-long outdoorsman and one of the nation's most active members of the outdoor media.  As graduate of Northern Michigan University with a B.S. Degree in Conservation, Romanack has spent his entire career working to help others better understand and appreciate the outdoors.  Romanack's outdoor career started in 1981 as an Environmental Educator.  While working as a naturalist, he began to write outdoor articles to supplement his income.  His first article was published by Michigan Out of Doors Magazine.  This part-time hobby grew into a full fledged career with writing and photography credits in over 30 different local, regional and national magazines.  He has published 11 different books on fishing, including the widely popular Precision Trolling series, has authored more than 3,000 feature articles and columns, sold hundreds of magazine covers and countless support photographs, and has plunged into the TV world by hosting and field producing a new TV series Fishing 411 on the World Fishing Network.  Romanack has also become a public speaker on a variety of outdoor topics.  He is considered one of the nation's leading authorities on walleye fishing and all things trolling, plus dog training and wing shooting.

Dog Gone Dog Training

Watching a finely tuned hunting dog is a pleasure and amazement.  Enjoy as avid bird hunter, outdoor writer and seminar leader Mark Romanack puts Mason, his four year old black lab, through his paces right on the water.  Covered in this informative demonstration are marked retrieves, blind retrieves, whistle commands, hand signals and a brief discussion on understanding dog behavior.  The goal is to show that with a little effort anyone can effectively train their own dog for waterfowl or upland hunting.

Mark Martin

There is no denying walleye are finicky fish, and fishing pro Mark Martin is no stranger to teaching others on how to catch them.  Martin has been giving seminars on the subject since his first tournament win in 1991, during the first-ever Professional Walleye Trail (PWT) Championship - which coined him the title "The Original Champ."  A life-long resident of Michigan, Martin is currently an instructor with the Fishing Vacation / Schools as well as a tournament pro with Anglers Insight Marketing (AIM).  Not to be missed, Martin will be giving seminars on catching walleye using modern-day open-water techniques and giving up his secrets to catching the most fickle of fish through the ice.

Jim Bedford

He has become one of Michigan's foremost authorities on fishing Michigan Rivers with spinners and other lures.  The retired toxicologist spends over 1,000 hours a year fishing Michigan Rivers and has written three books on the subject.  His most recent book "Spinner Magic!" has been a huge hit with Michigan anglers.

Capt. Mike Pittiglio

Mike is a full time Muskie guide on the world renowned Lake St. Clair.  With over 20 years of Muskie fishing under his belt, he spends approximately 120 days per season on the lake fishing for Muskies.  His accomplishments include a 55 1/4", which weighed 41.45 lbs., three muskies over 56", and 39 muskies boated in one day.

What started out as an infatuation with catching fish as a child has turned out to be a career for Traverse City, MI resident David Rose.  Rose has been writing books, articles, producing photos for publications and giving seminars for nearly two decades now, and enjoys teaching his passion for catching fish to his clients who guide with him on the inland lakes of Northwestern Lower Michigan.  As a writer and photographer, Rose has been able to travel the country and Canada for a multitude of different fish species and loves sharing his experiences with all.

Ramsey Dowgiallo

Ramsey has been traveling through the Boundary Waters Canoe Area for almost twenty years.  His business manifested by his passion for the BWCA and is driven by his desire to share the experience with others.  Ramsey grew up in Detroit, Michigan fishing with his father and grandfather since he was five years old.  He has Master Angler Awards in three states, with forty-five years fishing experience, certified in wilderness first aid, certified in adult / child CPR, and a knowledgeable guide and gracious outdoor host.  Over the past eight years, Ramsey has grown his business to be now one of the busiest guides in the park.  Ramsey is in his element in the wilderness.  He is a natural teacher and loves to share his knowledge with others.
